How to Prepare for Your First Mini Gumption Session Membership Photoshoot

The Mini Gumption Session is a photography membership with no creative direction included. These sessions are designed for restaurants, bakeries, cafés, and catering companies to be a quick, efficient and effective way to keep your visuals fresh without a long planning process. Working together frequently we get to know your brand very well so less prep time is required.

Know What You Need From This Shoot

Before anything else, think about where the images will live.
Are they for social media, your website, a menu update, or product listings?
Having a clear purpose helps us stay focused during the session and ensures you receive the most useful images.

Prepare the Product or Space

Since quick sessions move fast, having everything ready makes a big difference.

For food or product shoots:
• Make sure items are clean, fresh, and photo ready
• Have backup pieces in case something melts, smudges, or breaks
• Remove stickers or labels that are not part of the design

For lifestyle or space shoots:
• Tidy the area
• Remove clutter
• Have any key items within reach

A clean and simple setup allows the subject to stand out without heavy styling.

Keep Props and Styling Minimal

These sessions are designed to be efficient and straightforward. Minimal propping and styling is required. Simple backgrounds and clean surfaces work best and we use what you already have on hand.

Think About Light and Timing

If the shoot takes place in your location, choose a time of day with good natural light if possible. Soft window light gives us a clean and natural look. If you are unsure, we can help you choose the best time.

Relax and Trust the Process

You are not expected to direct or style the shoot. That is the point of this session.
Come as you are, have your items ready, and I will guide the rest.
Quick shoots work beautifully when the preparation is simple and intentional.
